OGEN CANNABIS
OGEN’s facility is located right in the heart of Downtown Calgary. OGEN was built on the foundation of being one of the leaders in the Craft Cannabis market. To achieve this, the folks at OGEN do things differently, to meet their own high standards.
PHENO HUNTERS
At OGEN, it all starts with Pheno Hunting. In short, Pheno Hunting is where a grower will hunt through hundreds of different plants looking for phenotypes with particular traits. Every grower has their own checklist as to what they are wanting, but some general things they look for are the aroma, the potency, terp profile. At OGEN, the phenotypes are followed closely, eventually they are narrowed down with only few being promoted to becoming the mother plant.
FOR THE LOVE OF WEED
Clones are then taken from the mother plant, and placed in a controlled environment to give the best possible results in the veg room. Not all will make the cut, as the growers are looking for consistency with roots, nodes and symmetry. The clones then make their way to the flower rooms. OGENs flower rooms are intentionally small, to allow the environment to be totally controlled to the needs of each plant. It also allows for the growers to be hands spreading the love to every single plant.
HANDCRAFTED BUD
Once the plants are harvested, OGEN starts the process of drying and curing the plants. As expected, OGEN has their own way of doing that – by hand. They hand dry their plants to protect alllll those trichomes, then they hand trim every single bud. Seriously. Every. Single. Bud. Lastly, the team slowly cures their flower to ensure they reach the depth of every flavour possible.

OGEN is a local Craft Cannabis producer, focusing on producing small batches of epic cannabis. A benefit of small batch growing is that it allows the growers to see and note changes in each specific plant. The team noted that Freshly Baked #76, has a strong fruit aroma during the first 4-6 weeks. Which, over the growth of the plant evolved into more of a sweet and gassy scent. Nothing goes unnoticed at OGEN!

WHO INVENTED WEED?

While the THC levels are impressive, there is so much more that goes into the overal experience. That’s where we look at the Terpenes – essentially, what gives the bud it’s flavour, and aroma. Space Flight Superstar #11 by OGEN is a hybrid dominant. The rumoured lineage is that of Gelato 45/High Octane x Jet Fuel. Which would make sense because as the aroma when opening the jar is that of heavenly sweet bouquet with hints of {rocket} fuel. The flavour of this cosmic smoke is herbal with gassy notes with a hint of Vanilla to it.
